Rangeland Reds: Why We Breed Dark Golden Retrievers
Dark Golden Retrievers, often referred to as honey, copper, or mahogany colored Goldens, are the rarer of the Golden line, and their deep, rich coats set them apart from the traditional lighter gold shades. Beyond their striking appearance, these Goldens are bred for their sleek body lines, strong work ethic, and unwavering companionship. They possess an incredible blend of drive and devotion, making them exceptional working dogs while also being the ultimate family companions. Their natural retrieving instincts, intelligence, and athleticism allow them to excel in hunting and fieldwork, yet their gentle, affectionate nature makes them perfect for homes filled with children and adventure. Their loyalty and devotion to their owners also make them the ideal service dogs. At our core, we breed dark Golden Retrievers for their ability to seamlessly transition between devoted adventure and hunting partners, guide and loyal, loving family members in the home.

Yes! Golden Retrievers are one of the most popular breeds for service and therapy work due to their intelligence, trainability, and loving nature. They excel as guide dogs, mobility assistance dogs, and emotional support animals.
-
Puppies must stay with their mother and littermates until they are at least 8 weeks old. This is the legal limit in the state of Arizona, and for good reason. Puppies learn crucial social skills from their littermates during this time, including bite inhibition and basic communication. Bringing a puppy home too soon can lead to behavioral and socialization issues later on. At 8 weeks, they are ready to transition to their forever homes, where they can continue their development in a loving family environment.
